Our Winter Skills Advanced course is a three day course delivered in the Scottish Highlands.

Summary:

Our Winter Skills Advanced course in Scotland is ideal for really developing those winter skills. This is a three day course run from either Fort William on the West Coast or Aviemore on the East Coast. You will need to arrange accommodation and have your own transport. This course is most suited to groups due to the logistics.

  • Avalanche forecasts  

  • Winter Hazards and Emergency procedures

  • Basic winter ropework

  • Advance crampon and ice axe skills

  • An introduction to avalanche transceivers (Shovel and Probe)

 

Who's it for?

Anyone who used crampons and an ice axe before and would like to develop some more advanced winter skills. This course is also suitable to those who would like to winter climb as it cover lots of foundation skills for moving around winter terrain safely . This course is ideal for groups of friends, mountaineering clubs or individuals who would like to join a group of likeminded individuals. 

Kit Needed:

Mountain walking kit, Crampons, an Ice Axe, goggles. You need to provide your own winter B2/B3 boots. A full kit list will be sent to you on booking.

​Itinerary:

Our normal start time and meeting point is 9:00am at a local café or accommodation. After a quick briefing we head out to our chosen destination for a day of Winer Mountaineering. We aim to be finished around 4:30pm.

How to book:

Open Courses – These are usually of mixed groups. Pleas e mail for upcoming dates.

Closed courses – These are for bespoke dates for groups . We do ask for a £20 booking fee and a minimum number of two persons.
